cardio trainingThe staff at Fitness Together understand the importance of cardiovascular exercise, and subsequently cardiovascular prescription is a key element to ensuring that our clients reach their goals.

Most people understand that “cardio” burns calories, which is essential for decreasing body fat (weight loss as most people call it), but there are numerous other benefits.

Other benefits include:

  • Increased lung capacity
  • Increased metabolism
  • Stronger heart
  • Lower resting heart rate
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increased HDL (good cholesterol)
  • Lower LDL (bad cholesterol)
  • Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease

Our approach, although based on detailed analysis, is fairly simple – The Fitness Together staff prescribes a cardio regimen for each client. Although the individual prescription will vary from client to client, one thing remain constant. ACCOUNTABILITY. We realize that consistency is an extremely important component of any successful program, therefore adherence to “the gameplan” is discussed during each session. Individual prescriptions are modified and updated on a regular basis, to keep the cardio sessions challenging, fun, and most importantly effective.

Another important role of “cardio” is in goal setting. We encourage all clients to set goals that get and keep them involved in healthy activities. For example, 5K’s, 10K’s, mini-triathalon’s, half-marathons, even marathons. It doesn’t matter whether you walk a 5K, or win a marathon, the important thing is that you challenge yourself and experience the joy that comes with meeting and exceeding your goals.
